Okay, since many people asked me… I’m going to review & share a little simple tutorial about one of my photo manipulations. To note, if you’re a professional photo editor, this might not necessary for you to read. Especially, I’m also an amateur photographer so, you can tell my photos aren’t that good from the quality wise. I did this for people whom are totally noob on this, & the tutorial was intentionally made to be simple for them in hope they can follow the steps easily. This tutorial is all about multiple objects in a single photo, as you can see from my action figure photos. Some of them shown like I have multiple figure, infact… It was a photo trick afterall. All of this attempt comes from one of my friend suggested me to buy 6 S.H.Figuarts Shocker Rider following the order from the movie, & to tell the truth I definitely can’t afford to buy 6… Yet, there’s no different at all between them, I say it’s a complete waste unless you’re interested to make your own diorama collections to show off. Then I came up on making this & out from my expectation, my friend & other people were tricked by my photo edits. Then, I revealed to some of them, & most people asked me: “How in the world you did multiplied those?”. It is a pretty simple to do something like that I must say. Here I go for the tutorial, but what exactly that we need to do this?
- Any acceptable Camera to take a pictures.
- Tripod to stand still the positions during the picture shot.
- Any single object that you wish to make their multiple form or even you can be your object.
- Adobe PhotoShop or any acceptable programs, but in here I used PhotoShop & some Paint.
Well, that’s all you need. The very 1st things you must do, you need to take a multiple photos on your objects as much as you wish. When you took photos make sure to keep the tripod stand still, not even a little shake is needed since it can misalign the position for the photo trick. After you take one picture of the object, take another but this time you need to change the objects position(of course). Do this how many you want for their multiple existence. & below are the pictures shown that I took.
Well, these 4 was our example to do the multiple object. You can use this if you want to practice yourself, & these photos are already perfectly well accurate on their position wise, you can just crop & drop them onto one of your picture background. 2nd things you need to do is to run Adobe PhotoShop or any other program that you prefer. Then choose one of the picture for the main background, I suggest you to use this.
After the background is ready, add new layer & use the 2nd photo. Here you just simply crop it as accurate as you can. Of course what you need to crop is the right side of the photo that blocking the 1st photo object on the right side. To crop image you need a Lasso tool, but mainly I used Polygonal Lasso since it’s more easier for me. Then make a crop like this:
After you cropped the picture, you will have this result.
There, we got 2 Nene on the picture. For the next photo repeat the previous step until you’re done all of your photos. & the final result is:
Quite wonder aren’t they? These photo surely made people thought I got 4 Figma Nene. It’s easy for you to make this simple photo manipulation. Good luck ! But wait, we’re not done yet… To note for newbie on photography, whenever we took photos sometimes we get the unproper positions either are a bit lower/higher than the 1st photo or the rest. This is because either the tripod aren’t properly stand still during taking the picture, & you might accidentally shake them a bit so the positions became misaligned. But, as long as not a big misaligned positions we can still manage to reedit them, but this needs more comprehensive precision for us. To do this in Photoshop you need to move(Move Tool (V) the photo position a little until fit like the main background photo.
Until you can see the accurate positions of that photo layer, you can check them by indicates the layer visibility.
Another problem is when we took a pictures sometimes the brightness & colors appeared to be different, this is either from the different object detection focus especially for a pocket camera user(Including me). In this matter, you need to adjust the brightness if your photo appeared to be darker/brighter than the other photos. To do this Go to Image -> Adjustments -> Brightness/Contrast, then adjust them as match as you can see.
& if you’re having a different colored photo which is more pale than the rest, you can just adjust the hue or saturations. Do this by Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturations. Then adjust to match the image.
Well, so far that’s the only thing that I can share to all of you, I hope it helps. I learned this trick by myself, but I know there’s a lot of better tutorial out there, but I was asked by some of my friends to do this. It’s fun to do that, & in some forum I just can’t stop laugh to read people said “WTF?! 6 Nene/Shocker Rider?!”, “Holy Cow, 5 Shadow Moon?!” etc. Once again, it was really out from my expectation that many people didn’t notice them….
