Darn, I owned this guy for 2 months ago & already wrote the review but, for some weird reason I couldn’t publish it… But, it doesn’t matter atleast now is published… As for people who waited my review, I’ve added some bonus photos for him. Here goes nothing, my 2nd owned S.H.Figuarts Exclusive collection & it’s another Sentai line! Armed Tyranno Ranger of Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger! This version of Tyranno Ranger appeared more subsequents after the death of his older brother, Burai The Dragon Ranger. Shortly, before his inevitable death, Burai passed the torch of his trademark Dragon Armor and Zyusouken to Geki to help the team battles Bandora & the gang. When he wears the Dragon Armor, he is called Armed Tyranno Ranger, and can generate his power three to five times higher than usual. Okay, that’s enough… The history of Armed Tyranno Ranger is pretty devastating, especially to know that Burai is the first sentai team to be death (though he already dead 2 times). Just like Tyranno Ranger, Armed Tyranno Ranger also available in 2 versions which is the original Japanese & US Market Ver. (for sure it was again labelled with the American adaptations franchise) Mine one is the original Japanese. Pretty much like Kibaranger, Armed Tyranno Ranger also got windowless box but, colored in red like Tyranno Ranger. Another plain & lame box design… & he comes up with the exact accessories that Dragon Ranger & Tyranno Ranger has.
He comes with 3 weapons, & 4 pair of hand accessories. Yup, there’s no part that included exclusively in him, since he mostly uses the exact weapons that both Dragon & Tyranno Ranger’s weapons.
Armed Tyranno Ranger is the first of a line of Red Rangers who have a special upgrade the rest of his main team never obtains, followed by AbaRed, DekaRed, Kyoryu Red, and AkibaRed. Other than his Dragon Armor (golden chestplate and two golden armbands), this version of Tyranno Ranger got the exact same sculpt just like the normal Tyranno Ranger, red outfit with some white in his upper body, neck, belt, boots, & gloves. Unlike the normal Tyranno, his belt got 2 holsters which is his white colored Ranger Stick/Gun/Sword’s holster on the left, & black colored Zyusouken’s sheath on the right, & the Dino buckler was painted gold just like Dragon Ranger. It is another best work of Bandai though but frankly, Armed Tyranno Ranger was unnecessary to be sells like this, I think it would be better if Bandai just made a removable Dragon Armor & provide extra belt for Armed Tyranno Ranger either on Tyranno or Dragon Ranger. I actually wanted to praise this one but, it is a very big dissapointment for me on Bandai’s stupid marketting tactics on this. However, because of Tyranno Ranger’s being my favorite character, I dared to let them fooled me & tooked my money worthlessly. This is what you want huh, Bandai? So be it, & I have to agree on what most Bandai collector’s said “DAMN YOU, BANDAI!!” Armed Tyranno Ranger was released in November 2013 & in the quality control wise, he’s exactly the same like my Dragon & Tyranno Ranger. The lacks of his upper bicep cut, & the Dragon Armor that made him in the way to move his shoulder higher or rotate it 360 degrees. & the figure don’t have a diecast material at all & it feels light.
Much like Tyranno Ranger… Helmet sculpt is exactly the same, & there’s no minor sculpt differences at all comparing to normal Tyranno Ranger. So, I think I’ll have nothing to say more on this… I’ve done quite enough on describing how great Tyranno Ranger’s Helmet Sculpt should be… Man, I’m such an idiot, I let myself fooled by Bandai because of Tyranno Ranger… Actually, back when I saw Dragon Ranger’s prototype, I already get a feeling on Bandai will be cunningly create a separated Armed Tyranno Ranger figure. Because, I already noticed when I saw one of Dragon Ranger’s official prototype photos, his armbands were molded alongside his arms.
This Tyranno Ranger only differs from his Dragon Armor, Golden colored Dino Buckler, & 2 holsters (for Ranger Stick & a sheath for Zyusouken)… However, I have to admit Armed Tyranno Ranger looked more badass & more dashing than his normal form or even Dragon Ranger, because the Dragon Armor’s color suits more perfectly to his coloring than green. I think that’s the only reasons that made me wanted to waste my precious money on this. However, Dragon Armor is already identical to Dragon Ranger’s arsenal, because without it Dragon Ranger will looked more plain than normal Tyranno Ranger, so he still deserves more. Besides of that Bandai intended not to make the chestplate to be cast-off, especially to be share to other S.H.Figuarts, although we can actually do that by force & it may risk the figure, but only for the chestplate not the armbands. But, since I couldn’t go crazy like that, so I prefer buying this. Unlike Dragon Ranger, Zyusouken sheath is located on the left side of the belt due to the existence of his Ranger Stick’s holster.
Well, I have nothing to say on this, his articulations works like how Dragon Ranger & Tyranno Ranger (if we removed the armor) works.
Meh… Ryuugekiken, Ranger Stick, & Zyusouken? Well, their mold & the materials are exactly the same like my Dragon & Tyranno has… Again, I have nothing more to say on this because there’s no differences at all in my eyes… But, in some review says the details are slightly different, but not in mine one… I guess that reviewer was actually in luck or got a bad luck, because we’ll never know how good the quality of them. What do you expect, it’s a mass produced stuffs… One thing, if Bandai could provide the exact accessories from Dragon & Normal Tyranno has into Armed Tyranno, then why don’t they just include SHF BLACK with extra Satan Saber as well rather than borrowing from ShadowMoon one?
Out from the box, he comes up with a fistful hand parts attached to his wrists, the extras are pair of open splayed 2 fingers, Holding hands for Ryuugekiken, Holding hands for Ranger Stick & Zyusouken, Zyusouken flute play hands & Holding hands for Zyusouken. This time, they didn’t add Dragon Ranger’s holding hands for Zyusouken, the one that molded sticky to his thumbs, instead sharing use to Ranger Stick/Ranger Sword one. As for Zyusouken flute play hands, I never see both Original & Adaptations performing that hand pose in the show, instead he’s using it mostly inside the Daizyujin with 1 hand. I guess it’s a minor extras for him to imitate how his brother did. All and all, another same sculpt work & molding so, I ain’t gonna tell the same thing like how I described this part in my Dragon & Tyranno Ranger review.
COMPARISON BETWEEN THE US MARKET VER.
Yeah, much like Tyranno, Dragon, & Kiba Ranger there are 2 versions of S.H.Figuarts Armed Tyranno Ranger which is Original Japanese & US Market Ver. The US Market was given their own box labelled with the American adaptations franchise. & It says in a different name instead of Armed Tyranno Ranger, of course they used their own American counterpart’s name… Pretty much like Dragon & Kiba Ranger, the frontal box was colored bronze added with some fx motives on it. The inner tray paper was colored plain gray, while the original one doesn’t have inner tray paper due to their windowless box. The back view was colored overally red, just like Tyranno Ranger or like the original Japanese release but there’s no warning banner on it. This time, Bandai didn’t include exclusive bonus part for the original Japanese release, since he’s not present in Akibaranger series. So the actual contents has no different at all between the US Market, so it’s your choice which one you prefer. But, I assumed most people would prefer the US Market Ver. better because, he was released regular, alot cheaper & he might have a chance to be reissued someday.
Yes, since Armed Tyranno Ranger is just a Tyranno Ranger with Dragon Ranger’s armor & holster, he should still be able to use the variant form of his Ranger Stick like how his normal form does. Since he’s still wielding his Ranger Stick in his holster. Same goes for using Thunder Slinger I think, if he can use Ryuugekiken so why not Thunder Slinger as well? But, I know that Armed Tyranno Ranger never perform himself using those, since Ranger Stick remains in the holster while Thunder Slinger was never used at all. But, I thought it would be very cool to see Armed Tyranno Ranger in action using this weapons.
As you can see… He got no different at all to his normal form, except mixed with Dragon Ranger’s armor & Zyusouken sheath. The coloring, the mold, paintjob, everything is the same… Dragon Ranger is still slightly shorter than Armed Tyranno Ranger.
Yeah, you can say this review is more show-off to the pictures I tooked, because I don’t want to tell the same thing just like I wrote my Dragon & Tyranno Ranger review. Well, despite more badass looking than Dragon Ranger (atleast for me…), Armed Tyranno Ranger still wasn’t popular as Dragon Ranger was. Because, this form only appeared 3 times in the entire show excluding when in Thunder Slinger episodes, since Dragon Ranger only temporarily lend the chestplate (excluding armbands) to Tyranno Ranger. So, I think this is why Dragon Armor is more identical to Dragon Ranger, since he always wore them in most of his appearance. However, Armed Tyranno Ranger appeared once again in one of the Gokaiger series, where Gokai Silver changes into Dragon Ranger & lend the Dragon Armor to Gokai Red In Tyranno Ranger form. Frankly, he looked more badass in there, eventhough the user wasn’t Geki the original Tyranno Ranger. Apparently, in the American adaptations (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) most people also didn’t recognized this form either, because Red Ranger also rarely uses this form (due to the adaptations mostly uses the footage of the original sentai). If you have Normal form of Tyranno & Dragon Ranger, I wouldn’t recommend you much on this, eventhough it’s a very fine conversion from Bandai. Unless you’re like me, who bought this because of being a big fan of Tyranno Ranger or you prefer Armed Tyranno Ranger better than Normal form. Actually, I was totally dissapointed on how Bandai did for selling him separately, & his original Japanese release was an Exclusive… Fortunately, for PR fanboys the US Market Ver. Armored Red Ranger was a regular release, so he’s alot cheaper than the original counterpart. Still, the choices is yours….
Pros: Armed Tyranno Ranger looked more badass than his normal form & even Dragon Ranger. Well, that’s the only thing that I admired….
Small Parts: 3/5
Accuracy sculpt: 4/5
But, without him you’ll never exist, right?
Then what is Ninja Falconzord? Owh, that’s right, it’s from Kakuranger!
That’s gotta hurt so bad….
You said it…
Let’s see inside the box…
S.H.Figuarts Sailor Mercury?!
Ah, yes! Hehehe, now that he spoiled it…
Thank you for reading!!
