Atlast! I finally snagged on my last Super Imaginative Chogokin. Takumi Damashii collections! The review is all about S.I.C. TD ShadowMoon, if you read my other reviews you should have known him very well. Century King Shadow Moon is a character who serves as the primary antagonist in the Kamen Rider Series installment Kamen Rider BLACK and Kamen Rider BLACK RX. Originally known as Nobuhiko Akizuki, Kotaro’s step brother. On the review now… Unfortunately, I lost the box of my Shadow Moon, so I can’t review the box as well but, atleast I still got the whole accessories of it. TD Shadow Moon was released somewhere in 2005 & is one of the line up part of Vol. 06 of S.I.C. Takumi Damashii where it comes along with 2 variant color which is TD Another ShadowMoon & Black colored ShadowMoon, they were packed in a 1 set big box unless if you buy single of them. Well, since no box I’ll begin the figure review.
Much like other TD figures, most of the accessories are only preassembled part of the figures. They are 1 armless ShadowMoon figure, 2 arms (1 holding Satan Saber), 1 cape, & 1 diorama. Well, what can we expect more?
This is the fully assembled of TD ShadowMoon looks very badass! Although it’s boring for me just to see 1 pose only, much like his reguler S.I.C., TD ShadowMoon was made to be darker than his TV counterpart, S.I.C. focusses on imaginative design on the figure & they usually based on their manga version. But, in the manga Shadowmoon got the exact design of S.I.C. BLACK or his Batta Man form in TV. The name of ShadowMoon is never mentioned in the manga, he’s simply called Nobuhiko Akizuki. TD ShadowMoon was also sculpted by Takayuki Takeya. Judging from his small size, this figure really deserves high praise, takeya did a super meticulous sculpt work on this ShadowMoon. For me, this figure is considered as semi statue to me since he got very few articulations & he was made from a hard PVC material & have no diecast.
In this version ShadowMoon’s helmet got more bug looking with bulky armor design of his body, just like his regular S.I.C. version. the helmet looked really identical to his regular S.I.C. although there’s a slight differences but, not a big deal. the antennas were made from a semi soft material since we can feel their flexibility. We can feel the more bug like & darker feeling of this ShadowMoon.
His proportions was made like his regular S.I.C. version, where he appeared bulkier than in the show. But, unlike the regular versions he also dons a black cape from his grasshopper back resembling a wings. In here, ShadowMoon’s pose is shown he’s walking upward by wielding his only weapon Satan Saber with dark aura in him. The sword is unremovable from his hand & his diorama is a dark rocky ground with a clear maroon long crystals. The overall of his sculpt contains lots of outlines & wrinkles, showing how imaginative he is, even the cape & sword got a very nice detailing & finishing. ShadowMoon unexpectedly also got articulations although it’s very few.
ShadowMoon got movable head that can be bend up & down.
He also got shoulder articulations that can be rotate it but, the joints are peg jointed & they won’t last long because, you will eventually loose them if you rotate them too much. But, the joint won’t loose if you remain them unmovable.
His right wrist can also spin 360 degrees & it was a peg jointed too but, it’s a little hard to spin them. Yup, that’s all about his articulations.
Wow!! Satan Saber definitely got an outstanding finishing!! So many linings & details! The sculpt even bears a strong resemblance to his regular version! If I get to see this only in photo, I hardly believe it was small. Sadly, the sword cannot be taken off from his hand, it was like either glued or molded together.
Only in TD version, ShadowMoon was included with black colored cape resembling a hopper wings attached on his back pad. With his cape, ShadowMoon got darker aura, the joints also got peg jointed style & you must attach it into his peg hole on his back. Unfortunately, ShadowMoon don’t have extra back pad without cape so, if you want him without cape, he’ll only good to be stared on the front.
Like other TD figures, ShadowMoon also got diorama of his own to make him stand. The diorama got the same peg hole for ShadowMoon’s peg jointed foots, of course all we need is to attach his foot’s peg into the ped hole of the diorama. Unlike BLACK one, ShadowMoon’s diorama is a dark rocky ground with a clear plastic long crystals shape, painted with maroon color. The diorama also got black colored table with some words written of Bandai property.
Though being a semi statue, creating various scenes is still very nicely done for me. Eventhough, I’m not a fan of statue or even semi statue, this figure actually sparks my interest & I don’t feel any regret aside of he’s a semi statue. If you’re an avid fan of Kamen Rider BLACK series or you’re fond with his imaginative version, this should be perfect for your roster. The details showed so many meticulous work from the sculptor, especially to know how small the figure is. However, this figure was a long time release, far before I even started collecting & I have to admit finding this guy isn’t an easy task… & I’m not going to collect the variant colors of this series, since the 4 TD figures already tooked me many years to collect.
- Intense sculpt work & paintjob.
- Dark & wicked design.
- Semi articulated for a small figure.
- Easy to handle.
- No extra accessories.
- They should atleast included extra back pad without his cape to show his regular version.
Small Parts: 0/5
Accuracy sculpt: 5/5
For the first time in forever, Battle Hopper sure talks too much….
