Okay, another Microman line review, Magne Powers series! This time is all about the baddies of the series which I introduce you the Demon Acroyear!! Acroyear is the main villain of all Microman series but, in this review I’ll be reviewing the one from the magne series which they are Demon Red & Demon Blue… Actually, there are 3 of them but, I didn’t managed to get the Demon Green one. Demon Acroyear are the main villain of Chiisana No Kyojin Microman, anime appearing in 1st episode till 23rd, they are alien robots served under the leadership of the main leader Angol Mois. No, It’s not Mois-chan from Keroro series, lol. Demon Acroyear consists 3 members, 1st would be Demon Red, 2nd is Demon Blue & 3rd Demon Green. Demon Red, was the 1st Demon Acroyear to be appeared in 1st episode of the series, each Demon Acroyear has their own henchmen working for them. Demon Red is short tempered, violent, arrogant & he has a very high pride for his ambition, he acts like the leader compare to the other 2 he is skilled in fighting ability. While Demon Blue is hot headed & merciless he specialized in shooting ability, & Demon Green perhaps the most calm & cunning one compare to the rests. All Demon Acroyear possessed Laser Blast weapon on their right hands but, Demon Green appeared to be having laser blade that rival Izam’s specialty. Alright, enough for the character introductions, Demon Acroyear series comes with the exact blister card design packaging of Microman Magne Powers except their blisters are a bit bigger than the Microman one, the other differences are the product number & the back shown the informations of the Demon Acroyear’s features. Funny thing, they features Microman’s introduction of “Microman is a super human 8 cm tall. He came to the earth, chasing the Acroyer. Now, save the earth from Acroyer! Use a table as a base!” in the card instead of Acroyear themselves. It’s a little awkward because the toys is all about Acroyear, I think it’d be good if they introduce what is Acroyear as well… But, what’s done is done then… Like the 5 Micromans, Each Demon Acroyear was packaged with their own blister card & sold separately. Okay, let’s take a look inside!
They comes up with the toy themselves, preassembled BB Bullets, mini book & comment card which I forgot to put them in the content’s photo. Well, guess you can already tell their own name from the color. I don’t think the book & comment card needs a review since they’re the same book & card like the 5 Micromans, if you wish to see what’s inside visit my 5 Microman Magne Powers review.
Demon Acroyear were made around 9 cm tall & they also articulated & much better than the Microman, their appearance are bug like robot design using ball socket style joints & the sculpt work also shows how these toys was made really intense. These guys are referenced from their predecessors of 1974-1980 Microman line. Like the Microman, they also made from a clear plastic especially on the head, chest, shoulders & thighs, while the others are completely solid light black plastic. Not forgetting that they also included with magnets to recreate many various unique posing scenes. Unlike the 5 Micromans, all Demon Acroyear toys are completely a 1 figure with different color which they don’t have any differences from their sculpt work.
Yeah, since they’re 1 figure with variant colors, they also shares the same head sculpt. Demon Acroyear’s head was based on the original classic look of A30X Acroyear 1 from their twin horn head, visor & that sphinx styled side head. The main head was made from a clear plastic while their face & twin horn was painted in chrome. I gotta admit, their head was sculpted pretty meticulous… You can see there’s so many detailing lines on their head + that clear plastic with chrome paint really made them eye catching to me!
Demon Acroyear’s proportions were made bulky like robot but, slim on their waist while their body sculpt has many spiky styled mold, especially on the shoulders & that chicken feet like… Lol, overall they looked great but, that chicken feet makes me loled… Although they overally shared the same sculpt work they actually got variant lower arms. Right arm is a ball like cannon hand, while left one was like a heavy gun styled hand. 1 thing, eventhough they looked beefed up than the Microman they actually very fragile & breakable than Microman. Unfortunately, my Demon Red has a broken right shoulder (fixed with blu-tack) but, it turns out to surprise me that some people also suffered the same problem. Which means, it was a mass defects, no? Fortunately, Demon Blue seems to be more solid than Demon Red, because I never had any breaking experience on handling him.
Demon Acroyear’s articulations are much much better than the Microman but, these articulations feels fragile to handle especially on their shoulders & crotch. Articulations of Demon Acroyear is they got movable & rotateable head & waist, movable arms & elbow, legs & knee, rotateable shoulder & crotch, their right cannon like hand also movable up, down & rotateable. The cannon like hand works for attaching the BB Ball launcher & may be it’s just me but, the joint quality between Demon Red & Demon Blue’s cannon like hand are quite different. My Demon Blue’s cannon like hand has tighter joint compare to my Demon Red one which appear to loose. The arms & legs can rotate 360 degrees but, has limit when moving sideway, the elbow & knee can bend down deeper than the microman & they also rotateable. Their head articulation works better as well, they uses ball joint on their neck which they’re rotateable & movable up & down. The only thing lacking is their ankle & feet are molded in 1 piece which they don’t have articulated joint for their ankle to move their feet so, it’s hard to recreate certain posing.
Demon Acroyear was also given with magnetic features located on their chest (N), left arm (N) & feet (Right S & Left N). Yeah, by using the magnetic features which you don’t need stand display like SHF or Figma to make them standing or create various poses unless you wanna create flying scene. Also, the magnetic field between Demon Acroyear & Microman are different, this allows them to recreate the battles using magnets more prominent.
Aside magnets, Demon Acroyear was included with their own preassembled BB Bullets & the kit has 4 Balls. Of course the purpose of this ball are for recreating them to fire something especially their enemy, Microman. All you need to do is to detach the balls & insert one of them to their cannon like hand & to fire just pull the cannon & watch out for the shot, because they can hurt you enough especially on the eyes!! Funny, they used to say this Microman Magne line was targetted to kids but, they’re quite dangerous for kids to play.
In comparison, Demon Blue appeared to be slightly taller than Magne Walt but, of course they still small for SHF Bio Rider!! Despite being bigger than Microman, Demon Acroyear’s head was slightly smaller than Microman Magne Powers head.
My Final thoughts is they’re more fun to play than the Microman but, I was disappointed by the fragility of the Demon Red’s materials which easily broken & the lacks of the ankle joints. Still, I’m quite happy with the overall result of these toys, & Demon Acroyear seems to be sells pretty well as they’re a little harder to get than the regular 5 Micromans but, it doesn’t mean that they’re expensive to buy. If you want to get them, they’re still relatively low on the price in many overseas online stores. Just like Microman, my reason of buying them is because the design of these Demon Acroyear was also used to be a local candy toy, Kinoman. In Indonesia, the Demon Acroyear was called Omega, he’s a giant red robot that attacking the city by destroying cars around him.
- Nice details & gimmicks.
- Better & almost fully articulated than the Microman.
- The magnetic features makes them easy to withstand their balance without stand display.
- The extra accessories of BB Bullets makes them more fun to play.
- Lack of articulation on the ankle.
- Material & joints tends to be more fragile compare to the Micromans.
- Magnets aren’t strong enough.
- All Demon Acroyears is only a 1 build figure with different coloring.
- The BB Bullet can be dangerous, I’d suggest don’t let children play this!!
