Well… On this review it’ll be a PVC statue figure, frankly I’m surprised myself I ended buying this since I’m not a fan of unarticulated figure. There’s alot of reason & some decision for sure you don’t want to know but, I’m going to review Mina Majikina from one of the greatest fighting game of Samurai Spirits or in US called Samurai Shodown created by SNK Playmore & Yuki Enterprise. However, in the original game itself Mina Majikina only made 3 appearances in Samurai Spirits Zero/Samurai Shodown V, Special, & Tenka/VI. Mina is an exorcist, who was blessed with powerful spiritual energy, which made her feared, yet revered in her village. She intends to get revenge on the demon who destroyed her village. She was created to be the “polar opposite to Nakoruru” and as the “new heroine” to the series. Mina is the first character that uses archer to grace the character lineup, she has made an outside appearance in the spin off series like Days of Memories 2 & Queen’s Gate. The figure itself, this Mina figure was based from one of her appearance in spin off series which is Queen’s Gate, is a series of visual combat books published by Hobby Japan. The figure was sculpted by Tatsumaki & produced by Kotobukiya company somewhere in 2010 but, the box or even the contents doesn’t even state when she was released & it was said to be an exclusive release… I actually aquired this information from MyFigureCollection, I don’t know if it’s true or not. Mina was sealed with a very simple white & gray colored box showing no promotional pictures of the figure at all but, shows the actual figure by the big window on it. We can clearly see what this figure comes up with.
The contents consists of Mina figure herself, bow with 3 arrows & base display. The figure also got some cast-off material to create perverted mode of her. There is no instruction manual for this figure but, not that necessarily needed I guess….
First thing to create her full armed, attach her bow in her right open hand, if you’re having problem attaching them you can also remove her white cloth wrap first then attach it. & lastly to make it more intense store her 3 arrows inside her green colored sheath but, if you’re having problem dealing with her hair in the way you can just remove the hair first then store the arrows.
There, she’s done for fighting mode! In overall design, Mina wears a white bikini with blue ends, with a white cloth wrap covering her lower body. On her right arms, she wears blue and white gloves, and on her legs, she wears blue and white boots. The weapon consists bow, arrows & green colored sheath with red bow tie on the back of her cloth wrap. Mina specialized on archery skill in the game which means she’s a good shooter, so she was included with an actual miniature bow which the string can be bounced & arrows like they’re perfect to recreate many scene. Unfortunately, Mina is completely unarticulated so they got no use at all except for displaying… But, they may still come in handy for my Play Arts KAI figure since, this figure stands around 18 cms which almost the same size as Play Arts KAI girl character. Without her stand display Mina can barely stand for a short time because she’s easy to fall. The entire figure was prepainted & made from PVC hard material & some soft one on certain part.
Mina’s head sculpt was sculpted good enough for an anime shoujo figure, she does looks typically cute & her expression shows her being emotionless person like in the game. Because of how she was treated in her village, Mina has become introverted and withdrawn. She does not trust anyone, forever being unsure of their motives and is very suspicious of others. It is ironic that her people treated her like that but, she still swore revenge to the demon who killed them & that means like, she still hold care with them. Her bangs are freakishly large & wide, they stands away from her forehead. Because of the long & wide lower bangs her face is barely visible when we look on the side. I have to admit details aren’t quite satisfying for a 18 cm figures, I’ve seen lots of detailed figures like SHF or Figma with even better details than this. Mina’s face was based from her appearance in Queens Gate visual combat books, she looks quite different compare to her original game appearance. Mina wears blue colored headband which was painted blue & she also wears ribbon string to tie her back hair to be in ponytail style, ponytail was made from hard material & it’s removable by the existence of her peg joint on top strings. The ribbon strings was made from soft plastic, they may be break easy enough if treated carelessly. As for ponytail details, frankly it’s kinda creepy looking sculpt work, like a… Worm mixed with drill, especially when you looked on the strings. It’s like her ponytail was it’s body & ribbon string acts as it’s head… It’s an odd idea why Tatsumaki/Kotobukiya came up with this idea.
Kotobukiya also made her white cloth wrap removable from her body, in order to remove it you’ll have to remove her torso & take off her cloth wrap then attach her torso again to her lower body. Her underneath cloth wrap was painted gray with blue-ish shade, while her blue strings was made from soft material. Okay, it’s not interested if only her cloth wrap, right? Now, we shall see her perverted mode.
Yeah, this is how Mina looks without her cloth wrap, yeah yeah… More sexiness revealed but, it doesn’t surprised me because this figure was made to be like this. Without her cloth wrap Mina only wears fundoshi which is an traditional Japanese underwear clothing but, close like G-string to me… Her body details was done intensely, I really like the sculpt on her abs, back, & her ass. They’re beautifully made perhaps, her entire body details was the one that made her eye catching I think… However, there’s one thing lacking from this figure, Mina is supposed to have tan or dark skin in most of her appearances but, in this conversion Mina is shown having fair skin. Even her actual appearance in Queen’s Gate she has tan skin, I don’t know again why she’s done with this color… Maybe, white skin made her more attractive? It’s not like I don’t like white skin but, it’d be better if Mina also was made faithful as her original appearance.
BONUS: MORE PERVY SHOTS
Yeah, more of pervy shots, I guess… Mina definitely a matured young girl with large boobs, the bikini even shows the protruding nipples of her but, no… Bikini wasn’t made cast-off but, her bikini sculpt work still shows some gap of her body especially her breasts cleavage like they’re removable, we can clearly see her actual boobs in the 1st pic angle. Her blue strings on the side boobs wasn’t painted really good as I spotted some misspaint. As for fundoshi they’re not cast-off, of course this is not an hentai figure!! I actually liking how her butt cleavage was made visible by her fundoshi & that slight sculpt of her fundoshi fabrics really made her attractive enough. However, as a fighter she can’t go fighting like this as you don’t have any protections at all but, she still can distract opponents if her opponents keep staring her body.
From their size, you can’t actually compare this figure with Styling or even SHF & Figma since they’re smaller but, size doesn’t matter… Both Kotobukiya & Bandai still paid attention on high details, so I don’t give a damn about size as long as they did an intense work… Well, unless from the price matters lol.
Well, good thing Play Arts KAI Sakura fits perfectly to be paired with Mina, man… I really wished Mina was articulated so I can create dream match Mina VS Sakura….
Unfortunately, my Mina figure suffered a broken boots… Just when I’m about to attach her boots to the stand display it breaks easily but, I actually bought this still new in box/unopened. I can’t believe how fragile she is, I could have sworn I actually handled her very gently I didn’t even uses force at all. Bummer!
Final thoughts, I’m not quite happy with this… Everything of her ain’t that special except that booty body, nowonder she really dropped her prices as I only got her for only 2000 yen unopened while her original price back in 2010 was 7930 yen. I bought her because I’ve always been a fan of Mina Majikina in Samurai Spirits 0 games, I found her attractive & easy to use because most of her attacks are projectiles. This Mina figure marks as my very 1st owned sexy PVC large figure statue & once again I was utterly disappointed by that broken boots… I don’t think I’m going to collect more of this kind of figure, I really wished for a proper action figure of Mina!! As for recommended or not, I say NO… This figure isn’t worth at all unless you’re a fan of Samurai Spirits/Shodown/Queen’s Gate or maybe you’re hunting ecchi figure.
- Good sculpt work.
- Good for displaying the figure in the cabinet or detolf.
- Great archer accessories.
- Nice window box.
- Some paintjob problem like misspaint & paint transfer but, not a big problem to me.
- Bad quality on certain part.
- Nothing really special from this figure.
- Box is too plain simple, it doesn’t even have a promotional picture of her figure.
- No instruction manual.
