After long time waiting! 66 Action Kamen Rider series is here to review again, now featuring ShadowMoon & a bonus of exclusive custom repaint of Another ShadowMoon!! Who is ShadowMoon or Another ShadowMoon? Well, you can check them on my other review regarding ShadowMoon in here & here. Long time ago this review was intended to be discussing the actual default product of 66 Action ShadowMoon. But, alas I lost my old photos of this ShadowMoon & SHF Ultimate Gohan before they got repaint treatment, & I don’t have double of them. So, in this review I’ll be mainly discussing about the results of my 2 repainted ShadowMoons so, if you want an exact review of the actual figure you came in the wrong place… These 2 ShadowMoons was repainted by my good friend Cluster Model Kit, you can check his awesome works in here. He’s also the one who did the repaint on several figures of mine in my other reviews. Okay, the only thing survived from my old photos is only the photos of the boxart of this ShadowMoon. Like BLACK, this ShadowMoon also comes in set of box but, labelled as 66 Action Kamen Rider Vol. 06 containing 8 figures in total, & there’s 5 kinds of Kamen Rider series. They are 2 ShadowMoon (24), 1 Kuuga & 1 Secret Rising Mighty (23), 2 Accel (22), 2 & Mach (21). Here, I’m going to review only ShadowMoon since I never been a fan of Heisei Riders. ShadowMoon was released in June 2015. ShadowMoon’s box was also overally colored white, it also got green lines, and black lines for Bandai Informations in Japanese. The boxart mostly got the photo of 66 Action ShadowMoon figure & there are 3 respective riders from vol. 06 featured in the back as part of the line up & box got no window so, we cannot see the contents.
Originally, 66 Action ShadowMoon comes up with 2 pair of preassembled variant hands, preassembled display stand, preassembled swords, & 1 candy. ShadowMoon also came headless before we open them… While in this customs, regular ShadowMoon comes with the exact 2 pair of hands, 3 swords & white display stand. Whereas Another ShadowMoon comes with 2 pair of hands, 1 sword & red display stand.
Like his predecessor for a candy toy, ShadowMoon was made very detailed on the sculpt & even fully articulated like S.H.Figuarts. But, their size are in deformed/chibi style but, unlike SHF they actually lack paintjob details but, here in my review the ShadowMoons was already repainted by added details & variant color. 1st one is a regular ShadowMoon with silver colored armor but, added with lots of detailing paintworks. & as for Another ShadowMoon, he’s actually a regular ShadowMoon but, his silver armor was painted metallic red & added details as well. His color schemes were strongly referenced from S.I.C. Another ShadowMoon. The figures were made about 66mm or 6.6cm which is why the line was called 66 Action & they got 16 points of articulation, making him poseable enough to do many kinds of dynamic posing. Unlike BLACK, ShadowMoon had a little improvements on the joint works which he’s less loose when we move them.
ShadowMoon helmet also made meticulously like BLACK & from this picture, my ShadowMoon already got a repaint treatment for his tiny itsy bitsy things on his helmet. The repaint looks very clean & there’s no paint bleeds or even paint transfer, my friend really did an outstanding work to repaint this 66mm figures! Originally, this ShadowMoon only have red dot painted on his face while the rests remains silver unpainted but, his mouth was painted slightly darker. & the neat one is Another ShadowMoon, not only his tiny things was repainted but, he got full repaint on his silver armor including helmet. He was repainted with shiny metallic red paint work!! The red metallic appeared to be not too bright but, you can still see how shiny he is & the repaint even looked very clean!! There’s no silver traces left or even red paint traces at all on his chrome eyes which was left unpainted!! Unlike, the regular ShadowMoon, Another ShadowMoon got his antennas painted black to follow how his original S.I.C. figure having black colored stag horn antennas. However, eversince this 66 ShadowMoon antennas wasn’t a stag horn style, I asked my friend to keep adding his tiny details on his forehead. So, this is how he looks now & in all honesty… I never expect he’d turned out like this!! He made this candy toys feels like an exclusive thing you can never find in other place.
66mm proportions was made to be a deformed/chibi style which they had smaller body but, with bigger head. ShadowMoon’s entire sculpt work was done pretty neat & he had more details compare to BLACK especially on his armor. Like every 66 Action figures, there’s a peg hole on his back for attaching his display stand. In this review, these 2 ShadowMoons already got repaint treatment, which they got their tiny things repainted & Another ShadowMoon for having full repaint on his silver armor with details as well. While the original one appeared to be almost plain silver but, there’s a little improvement on his Kingstone that was finally painted green. But, for a candy toy worth for 380 yen… I guess that was forgiven but, it still seems fruitless effort once again from Bandai. However, now I’m grateful to have them repainted & they don’t looked like a simple candy toys anymore.
ShadowMoon’s articulations works pretty much the same like BLACK, such as a movable head that can be rotate it 360 degrees, limited waist articulations… Upper bicep cut joints but, lack of butterfly joints on the shoulders. Other than that his movable legs, knees & feets allows us to recreate alot of dynamic posing for him.
Like most of ShadowMoon figures, 66 ShadowMoon also comes with his trademark weapon part which is Satan Saber & Twin Sabers. Actual stuff came preassembled & ShadowMoon only included with 2 swords which 1 Satan Saber & 1 Twin Saber, & both parts only had their blade’s painted in red while the handler are all left unpainted. Satan Saber’s handler was sculpted pretty decent, they didn’t forgot about tiny dots on it & the spikes. While Twin Saber’s blade appeared to be shorter than Satan Saber one & it lacks another piece which ShadowMoon supposed to have 2 of them since they’re called Twin Sabers. However, since both handler were left unpainted you can still recreate ShadowMoon wields 2 swords like he wields Twin Sabers, some people might don’t really care about the difference but, I did felt awkward to see that different shaped handler… In here, regular ShadowMoon comes with 1 Satan Saber & 2 Twin Sabers, while Another ShadowMoon only comes with 1 Satan Saber which got it’s own different coloring. Another Twin Saber actually came from Another ShadowMoon one & the reason why Another ShadowMoon was created is because I want my regular ShadowMoon has 2 Twin Sabers like in the show. I got this idea because in S.I.C. counterpart, Another ShadowMoon only comes with Satan Saber. The swords are all painted like how they accurately looked in the show, regular Satan Saber had it’s handler painted gold with the dots painted red & blue on both sides. Twin Sabers had their top handler painted silver with the circular things painted green & not forgetting those white lining on the blade on both sides. & lastly, Another ShadowMoon’s Satan Saber had the blade repainted metallic yellow with the handler single dot colored metallic green on both sides like it’s S.I.C. counterpart. However, the rest of the handler was left unpainted… Anyway, by the existence of Satan Saber now I can make my 66 BLACK wields a weapon!!
66 ShadowMoon is also given with originally preassembled 2 pair of option hand parts but, in this pictures they’re already assembled. Both ShadowMoon’s hands consists a pair of fistful hands & 1 pair of hand grip. Hand grip was meant to recreate them holding his iconic weapons which is Satan Saber & Twin Sabers. In this review, my friend also added black detailing on ShadowMoon’s hands like in the show & they’re done meticulously too. Originally, ShadowMoon’s hands was painted plain silver.
ShadowMoon also comes with his own display stand but, unlike BLACK which came with red color, ShadowMoon came with white color. The stand originally came preassembled & in all vol. 06 the whole lineup got white colored stand. Of course, Another ShadowMoon actually got white colored stand as well but, to make it different from regular ShadowMoon I borrowed BLACK’s red stand. Well, let’s take it to compare them… Both stand works perfectly the same as they only differ in coloring, we can swivel the joint & we also be able to put 4 pair of ShadowMoon’s hands in the peg hole included on the display. Also, it surprised me that the peg hole on the Riders fit enough to be attached on Stage Act Vol. 04!
Like 66 BLACK, ShadowMoon was also given with candy inside the box since it’s a candy toy. It is the same candy like 66 BLACK one had, where it was sealed in a clear plastic with Bandai’s logo & some Japanese words. The candy was shaped like a clover 4 leaves. This photo was actually the exact candy from 66 BLACK one since, I lost my old ShadowMoon’s photo files.
Since,66 BLACK could ride this S.I.C.: TD Battle Hopper perfectly, you can also make 66 ShadowMoon ride it.
Between SHF, their size are pretty different but, you can still recreate like SHF having their own kid to play or become a sidekick! Also, by the details added in this 66 ShadowMoon, he looks more convincing like Mini SHF. Also, the Twin Sabers in 66 Action had all the blade on the same length, while the original & SHF had the other one shorter. On the begining I want one to be cut short as well but, I don’t feel like it anymore as it’d ruin the figure’s worth.. So, I decided to keep the blade with the same length, & I like it better like this lol.
Well… Comparing to S.I.C. their sizes are out of their league… But, that’s still nothing if you want to compare them with RAH or much bigger than S.I.C. However, I’m not into discussing about the size but, 66 Another ShadowMoon’s coloring was referenced from this S.I.C. Limited Version. My friend tried his best to recreate this & personally to me… He gave me a very awesome result, you can see the coloring matches pretty much like how S.I.C. counterpart was colored. Well, there’s indeed a slight differences but, that’s not a big deal because this isn’t an accurate mini S.I.C. Another ShadowMoon which got different sculpt work.
Final thoughts, this figure is just like BLACK in overall quality but, there’s a slight improvement with some extra accessories added in ShadowMoon. But, if you liked Kamen Rider BLACK series in deformed style with lots of articulations, then this is my good recommendation. But, about the repaint done by Cluster Model Kit… I’m amazed by his repaint work! Everything looks clean & Another ShadowMoon… At first glance I hardly believe it was a repaint as I didn’t even spot any silver traces left on his body! If I don’t know anything about this, I might can’t tell this is a repaint of the regular ShadowMoon, since the repaint looked very clean. He looks like an exclusive stuff or a secret figure of 66 Action series. I have to admit, that Cluster Model Kit… He never fail to amaze me! & as for this lineup, they’re once considered discontinued but, Bandai made another new series of 66 Action Dragon Ball Super which lead me to believe there’s still a light of hope they’ll make 66 BLACK RX & his 2 forms in the future….
66 Action ShadowMoon And Another ShadowMoon:
- Very good sculpt work.
- Fully articulated for a small figure.
- Candy tastes good.
- Very easy to handle.
- Slight improvements on the quality.
- Most of the repaint part was done very clean.
66 Action ShadowMoon And Another ShadowMoon:
- So many incomplete paintjob. (Before they got repaint treatment)
- Very limited movements on the waist.
- Lacks on 1 more piece of Twin Saber part.
- Loose joints on the crotch for regular ShadowMoon.
