After so many review of DWC, now I’m going to review WCF Son Gohan (Mirai). Mirai Gohan or usually known as Future Gohan is the alternate timeline counterpart of Son Gohan that appears in the timeline in which Future Trunks lives. He is far more serious and aggressive than his present timeline counterpart, Future Gohan is showcased as a twenty-three-year-old man and is depicted as the mentor of Future Trunks. After his father dies from a heart virus and the murder of the Z Fighters at the hands of Android 17 and Android 18 six months later, Future Gohan becomes Earth’s last line of defense. As Super Saiyan, he spends the following thirteen years attempting to take down the androids but, he eventually killed by the androids. The figure line was called World Collectable Figure, is a line of smaller scale Prize figures by Banpresto. The figures also features them in deformed/chibi style with a single display base. WCF Future Gohan was sealed with orange colored box with some promotional pictures of him, the front one features him with the ruins of the Pepper town background, the locations where he fought for his final time and killed by the androids. While the back only has warning signs for this figure, the full words of “World Collectable Figure” is written in Japanese but, also in romaji along with it short name “WCF” on the top of the box along with some Dragon Ball art with Jamma logo and gold colored Toei sticker (Japan import). Future Gohan was released somewhere in June 2015 and the product line is Dragon Ball Super World Collectable Figure Vol. 06, his product number is 035 and he was released as set with other 5 characters such as Future Trunks (Super) 031), Future Mai (032), Goku Black (033), Zamasu (034) and Teen Future Trunks (006). Since the release features more Super characters, so the line has the logo named Dragon Ball Super. Well, Future Gohan and Teen Future Trunks did appeared in Super but, only in a flashback of Future Trunks. The front box looks interesting although, I’m not fond with windowless box. It’s time to open it!
The contents consists of 1 part of Future Gohan figure and his base display with some clear peg.
Future Gohan was included with clear red display stand but, unlike DWC there’s no peg anymore because the WCF footing position has nolonger peg holes. The base was changed to have a single peg hole on top of the circular shape for attaching the clear colored peg. To make him standing without having worried of falling, we ought to attach Gohan’s peg hole (on his butt) into the clear peg.
Future Gohan also dons a uniform greatly resembling that of Goku’s early uniform, which is orange colored gi outfit, blue undershirt, arm bands, obi belt with waving 2 loose tie and dark blue boots with brown strings. The only differences between his uniform and Goku’s is that the undershirt’s sleeves are longer, his boots has white stripes on the bottom edges and without the line running in the middle of the boots from top to bottom, and he also wears his own kanji symbol on the back, Han, 飯. Future Gohan states that he is inspired to wear it in the hopes that he will one day be as strong as his father was. Future Gohan is posing open wide legs with bending his knees, his right arm bend to the front with his hand gripping into fist as he’s ready to power up or to go Super Saiyan. However, this Gohan lost his left arm, after the rough battle with the androids so, the left side was only shown his long sleeves. He was done in deformed style so, I’m not going to discuss much of his proportions but, for a chibi figure he still retained his adult appearance. Overall sculpt work of him is very well detailed, mainly on the fabric details of his outfit, he’s quite meticulously made. Banpresto still did another outstanding job on him and comparing to him promotional pictures, the actual figure looked exactly the same. The whole figures was made from hard plastic.
Future Gohan can still stand nicely without his base but, a single shake might hurt him.
Future Gohan’s hairstyle actually resembles Goku’s but, more like toned down spikes and only has 3 bangs. There are 3 short spikes hanging on the right like Goku’s and 2 short spikes hanging on the left. But, he sometimes missing those 2 spikes in several scenes. Future Gohan facial feature is strikingly resembles to his late father, specifically from his eyes, he looks exactly like Goku with slightly toned down spiky hairstyle. Honestly, I once mistook him as Goku when first time I saw him in the manga. Other than those spikes and bangs, Future Gohan’s hair looks really thin more like a military man. He also has 2 facial scars on the left resembling to Yamcha’s scars, and his expression is shown terribly angered because of the dirty work of the androids, I like how Banpresto did on his facial details and that white teeth. He looks really mad and full of hatred, for sure this expression and mood will trigger him to become Super Saiyan indeed… Like Goku, Gohan’s irises are painted simple black, he is looking up to the front view. The overall finishing was done great for me.
Comparing the figure between his anime/manga counterpart, WCF Future Gohan was perfectly accurate. Banpresto did captured his angered expression intensely like in the DBS anime. See the difference between Present Gohan’s face? Future Gohan has his father looks very alike than Present Gohan.. Currently, Future Gohan is nolonger exist even his soul/spirit was destroyed due to Zen-Oh wiped out Future Trunks universe in order to stop Zamasu so, he only lived in Future Trunks memory. Anyway, the Future Trunks saga in Super really ruined the future Trunks world, giving no hope at all for him on protecting his beloved earth. But, personally Future Gohan was my 2nd favorite character after Ultimate Gohan and to know he’s completely destroyed, it made me hated DBS so much.
Aside the longer sleeves, symbol and different stripes color on the boots, both Gohan and Goku got the same outfit but, Gohan has darker tone on the blue and the orange than Goku’s and his skin color is more tan whereas Goku is pale. However, Future Gohan’s black hair is brighter than Goku, he’s more like done with matte black finishing. But, in the anime Future Gohan likely got the same skin color like his father but, no one really knows their further differences since Future Goku dies long before he sees adult Future Gohan. But, they once met in a game called Dragon Ball Z – Shin Budokai: Another Road and also in other games which will trigger the intro of Goku VS Future Gohan. Also, their pose may be simillar but, Future Gohan is shown to open his leg wider and bending his knees while Goku is just standing.
So happy with this figure, WCF Future Gohan became my 2nd favorite WCF collections after DWC Mai! Future Gohan is perfect and real intense but, I’m a little displeased with that peg hole on his butt… WCF Future Gohan is still relatively new but, it seems it’s quite rare to have a decent Future Gohan figure so far, I may be still got him in a good deal but, I actually had a little hard time finding him. It’s still a little confusing to tell whether this Gohan will become pricey or not but, If you like collecting Dragon Ball figure, WCF or maybe you prefer Future Gohan better than present Gohan I say get him when you still can! He’s another great addition for your Dragon Ball collections, Future Gohan is perfect. Anyway, that’s all for this week’s massive DWC/WCF reviews! More to come soon, stay tuned!
- Good and very detailed sculpt work.
- Good for displaying the figure in the cabinet or detolf.
- Good looking box.
- Some minor misspaint but, it’s tolerable for a prize figure.
- That stupid looking peg hole on Gohan’s butt.
- Really wished they’d keep the peg jointed base display instead of adding clear peg stick.
