Yes, another review of World Collectable Figure featuring Super Saiyan 2 Caulifla from Dragon Ball Super. Caulifla is a Saiyan from Universe 6 and a member of Team Universe 6 who participates in Zeno’s Tournament of Power. She is the younger sister of Renso and the leader of a group of Saiyan punks. She has a very punkish attitude and is also recognized as a tomboy, to which she shows a strong contrast to the rest of her race, acting more akin to the Universe 7 Saiyans. Caulifla is shown to be very lazy if not self-absorbed as she initially refused to join the Tournament of Power even when learning her universe’s or her own existence were on the line. It took Cabba telling her about the Super Saiyan form as well as about being able to achieve greater heights in her strength to make her agree, showing her desire to become stronger. WCF SSJ2 Caulifla comes with plain white colored box with some promotional pictures of her, the front one features her with the background of her own promotional photo which colored green. While the back only has warning signs for this figure, the full words of “World Collectable Figure” is written in Japanese but, also in romaji along with it short name “WCF” on the top of the box along with Jamma logo and gold colored Toei sticker (Japan import). SSJ2 Caulifla was released in March 13th 2018 and the product line is Dragon Ball Super World Collectable Figure Saiyans Bravery Vol. 02, her product number is DBS-SB 11 and she was released as set with other 5 characters such as Super Saiyan Gogeta (07), Fat Gogeta/Veku (08), Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta (09), Super Saiyan 3 Kid Son Gokou (10) and Mastered Ultra Instinct Son Gokou (12). Every 2 characters came from different series such as Dragon Ball Z contains Gogeta and Fat Gogeta/Veku, Dragon Ball GT has SSJ4 Vegeta and SSJ3 Kid Goku and, Dragon Ball Super got SSJ2 Caulifla and Mastered Ultra Instinct Son Gokou but, the set was printed with the logo of Dragon Ball Super which is the latest Dragon Ball series. Frankly, I don’t like how the box was designed, it feels too plain boring compare to the early releases of WCF and once again I’m not fond with windowless box. I think it’s about time to unbox her!
The contents consists of 1 part of SSJ2 Caulifla figure and her base display with some clear peg.
Like my WCF Future Gohan, Caulifla was also included with clear red display stand, which the base got a single peg hole on top of the circular shape for attaching the clear colored peg. To make her standing without having worried of falling, we ought to attach Caulifla’s peg hole (on her butt) into the clear peg. Funny thing, the print on the base was written Banpresto 2016 despite the figure was released in 2018. However, my Mirai Gohan’s base print was written Banpresto 2017 and this is exactly the same like his actual release date. But, latest print or not it won’t make any different. And one more thing you’re going to need her stand display attached to her since Caulifla may fall easily without it but, it doesn’t mean she couldn’t stand on her own as my Caulifla could stand without the base but, not for long….
Caulifla is a short girl of slender build. She wears a low cut magenta tube top (painted), low-set purple harem pants (painted), long dark grey wristbands (painted), and a pair of pointy dark grey shoes (painted). Loved that delicious belly lol, fighting like that might distract the men but, not for Goku. In this figure, she’s posing complete standing with her left arm in low position with bending the elbow and does fistful grip, her head is positioned to the right side and half raising her right arms with open wide fingers like she’s about to fire a ki blast or one of her attacks like Crush Cannon. She’s in her Super Saiyan 2 state so, she appeared to have blonde/golden hair and green irises. Like most of DWC/WCF figures I owned, Caulifla was done very well detailed, especially the details on her abs and back which is really meticulously sculpted despite her small size, same goes to the fabric details of her outfit but, I’m surprised on that sculpted line on her crotch. Like a… Well, you know what I mean but, this line was actually too much for her since in the anime there is no straight fabric line on her crotch. Her paintjob is also pretty solid, Banpresto still did a good job but, comparing to her promotional pictures, the actual figure looked a little different on the head, I’ll show you below. The figure was made from a hard plastic.
In Super Saiyan 2 form, aside turning her hair from black to blonde/gold, Caulifla’s hair completely spikes up, standing above her shoulders much like Gohan’s in his Super Saiyan 2 form as a child against Cell, and three bangs appear, similar to Goku’s Super Saiyan 2 form. But, in this figure her spiky hair tends to be flowing to the back like Super Saiyan 3 form but, the hair is short. Her head also made from a hard material and it’s painted yellow with a sparkling gold tone but, her head is quite heavy and this may be the reason why Caulifla couldn’t stand on her own for long. Other than that her face looks great, especially that smirk was beautifully done, the figure really captures Caulifla’s punkish and tomboy expression. Like most of Super Saiyan state, Caulifla’s black eyes also turns to green and I like how her irises was added with darker tone outline instead of being plain green. Overall finishing was good enough but…
There’s something a little different between the actual product and promotional photo which is the actual product has her fringe glued onto her head, while the promotional one looked like a one piece since you can see the sculpted hair fringe that connects to her forhead but, her skin tone appeared to be closely the same to the promotional photo. And that’s the only thing I found of the differences but, it’s not a big deal I’m still happy with the way she was done but, if you feel disappointed that’s your problem.
Comparing the figure between her anime/manga counterpart, WCF SSJ2 Caulifla is accurate enough to her anime counterpart. Banpresto did captured her image like how she’s in the DBS anime except the deformed proportion because it’s WCF lol.
Height differences… Hmm… Caulifla looks alot bigger than both Mai even Goku especially from her head but, these are deformed figures so the scale can be inconsistent to fit the scale. In the anime Caulifla is shorter than Goku even a little shorter than Vegeta. And comparing their skin color… Caulifla looks slightly more reddish compare to both DWC but, atleast she’s still paler than WCF Future Gohan.
Another satisfaction with this figure, she became my 3rd favorite WCF collections after WCF Future Gohan! Caulifla is another solid addition for your WCF Dragon Ball collections. But, once again I’m a bit disappointed with that peg hole on her butt… Well, Caulifla was a recent release but, she became a little pricey at this moment and it’s kinda rare we get to see female Super Saiyan figure, although Berserker Kale was the first one to be out but, I’m not a fan of Kale with that bulked up proportion. I’d rather wait for her normal form or Kefla. Anyway, Caulifla, Kale Normal and Kefla became my new favorite characters in Dragon Ball series so, I’m interested to have more of their figures in the future…
- Good and very detailed sculpt work.
- Solid paintjob.
- Good for displaying the figure in the cabinet or detolf.
- Currently the best Caulifla figure ever made.
- Minor misspaint but, once again it’s tolerable for a prize figure.
- That stupid looking peg hole on her butt.
- Really wished they’d keep the peg jointed base display instead of adding clear peg stick.
- Plain looking box….
