Back for more, huh? Yes, this post is going to discuss another custom made figure but, this time we go into a new different character series despite the name being Marvel Legends (ML) line. It’s all about Lucia Morgan from Capcom’s Final Fight!! Lucia Morgan is a character from the Final Fight series of beat ’em up games. She first appeared in Final Fight 3 and as one of the four playable main characters. She later made her Street Fighter debut as a playable character in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Lucia was possibly inspired by real life martial artist and martial arts movie star, Cynthia Rothrock, who was active around the time of Lucia’s creation. Lucia’s appearance (both are blonde and blue-eyed with similar short haircuts), fighting style (comprising mostly of attention grabbing kicks) and character archetype (Lucia is a cop, like many of the characters played by Rothrock) are all similar to her. This figure was customized using 2 figures, they are ML Wasp Vintage for her body & ML Emma Frost for her head and hand with gloves. No review for these 2, sorry.
Lucia has very long, slender, muscular legs and short, blonde hair. She stands at an above-average height, having a toned physique and wears a fighting police outfit consisting of a blue sports bra with a brown under-cut vest and fingerless gloves, denim shorts, and converse high-top sneakers. This outfit is her “Nostalgia” costume in Street Fighter V. Lucia’s fights using self-taught kenpo and self-defense techniques. Being an agile fighter who utilizes kicks in most of her attacks. She has the ability to emit flames from her feet but, she also uses a baton in battle. In this figure, we tried to recreate how she looks in Final Fight 3 and her nostalgia costume in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. However, this custom requires full repaint and resculpting so, there’s extreme limit on posing her since moving her articulations would ruin her paintjob. In here, I cannot show how her articulation works but, I did created several pose for her omake. Articulations also works pretty much the same like Hasbro Lightning Collection but, most of female figures were missing several articulations such as double jointed elbow and lower ab-crunch. The missing double jointed elbow was actually pretty common in most of female action figure even such as SHF & Figma as well but, I’m completely fine with the missing lower ab-crunch. Not only they looked ugly but, also useless to me. The overall figure was made from hard plastic with several soft and rubber plastic and, for the resculpting part such as her hair, bra with enlarged boobs, vest, shorts and shoes were using clay epoxy. They’re pretty sturdy but, fragile enough. The custom were made by Panji Kusumo you can check more of his work in here.
Here, we’re using Emma Frost alternate head which she got bob cut hairstyle, reasons why not using Wasp Vintage head sculpt is because I plan to make something else someday. Emma Frost head also pretty close to Lucia’s looks, before the custom her hair was made from soft plastic but, the hair was removed to make a newly hair mold depicting Lucia’s short hairstyle but, the customizer made her bangs to be dramatically waving to the back. I like it so far but, the only thing I don’t like is her goddamn thick lipstick and her eye shadow. On the begining I actually asked the customizer to also repaint her face to be more Lucia’s face, he seemingly missed this but, still happy with the result so far. Lucia/Emma’s eyes were painted metallic blue but, her eyes are naturally blue in her Street Fighter appearance. Her resculpted hair was repainted into blonde with black weathering to show some realistic feeling.
This is the overall figure from before to after, main body uses Wasp Vintage while head and hands uses Emma Frost. This custom changes are mainly from her head, torso, hands and shoes. Before the custom, the whole body is blue and white colored which explain the blue part’s left on several articulations due the paintapp was ruined during posing. Her overall body were painted flesh with a bit darker tone to fit her face skin tone but, her getup were overally added some weathering details. I gotta say, Panji did a great job on this everything actually looks spot on, although, he made her vest merged into one mold of her chest. Other than that, she’s great! Loving how he sculpted her sports bra added with dull gold colored buttons, her shorts also looking great especially on her belt as well as each of her gloves were added some holes revealing her skin but, Panji missed to repaint the gloves into dark brown and her shoes also looking good although the articulated ankles ruined her paintapp due to the plain white material on Wasp’s legs. This is why I cannot demonstrate her articulation works like I couldn’t demonstrate my Goku custom childhood gi. I know, Lucia doesn’t seem to be standing quite right because she got bowlegged right leg, that’s originally from the Wasp body herself before I unbox her.
We go to the comparisons, ML Lucia stands taller than SHF Sakura but, slightly shorter than LC Golem Soldier. Interestingly, the scale between Sakura was actually fit enough as the actual height of Lucia is 172 cm while Sakura is 152 cm. I have to admit, I’m glad I didn’t pick a wrong base although… There’re several differences first is their hands, Sakura’s hands are awfully bigger than Lucia despite both wearing fingerless gloves. 2nd Sakura’s skin is way too bright compared to Lucia but, It’s an understandable difference since they’re different nationality. 3rd is their face, Sakura got anime-ish face style art while Lucia got western comic face style art. As for Golem, he’s just tiny bit taller than Lucia, you can check on my SHF Sakura & LC Golem Soldier review in here and here.
To be frank, I’m not actually a big fan of full custom figure but, Panji’s works and several other customizers amazed me alot. Which encouraged me to make more custom figure someday as long as I’m good with the budget and I like the character. Although, the original figure before the customs lacked some articulations which I couldn’t make her posing looked dynamic but, I did my best. However, due to the limited quality her paintapp easily peeled off alot whenever I’m posing her but, atleast only ruined in her articulations area, the rests is fine. ML Vintage Wasp was a good base to make her but, if you’re intending to pose her she might not a best choice since she has different colored material unless you got better paintapp to anticipate those peeling.
- Great resculpted work and details.
- Clean paintjob.
- Paint app quality problem.
- Limited articulated arms and legs.
- Bowlegged right leg.
